Escape from the city

Dear All,

I really enjoyed our trip to Wadi Digla yesterday, meeting everyone and
walking in such a beautiful place away from the stimulating but rather too
manic streets of Cairo.

The dramatic landscape, company, fresh air, exercise, peace (only a very
distant drone of traffic and friends' chatter away from complete silence), a
few birds and new flowers in the desert (spring is on the way) and the
heart-warming sun made for a lovely afternoon. An escape (if only for a few
hours!)

After sunset a few of us repeated the walk by moonlight going further down
the wadi - it was amazingly bright, clear and still under the nearly full
moon and so many stars that you will never see in the city (we must learn
some new constellations!) The white cliffs stood stark against the sky and
the plastic bags disappeared into the night. We kept warm around the fire
until the wood and chocolates ran out and returned home.

When is the next escape planned?

Martin
