I am getting into this conversation but without introduction as my
name ws mentioned by a couple of contributors to this group. First
thanks fro inviting me to be a guest in your forum. And big salam to
Hatoon. I recommended your name to al hura who wants someone to talk
about Saudi American relations. I have lots of reservations about this
channel which claims to be a free channel in an unfree world, never
mind. It is your decision Hatoon.
As for the municipal elections allow me to differ. I think the Saudi
people deserve more than a bluff. When the country is at a cross road,
only a third of the candidates are elected. Can you imagine even
decisions about the sewege system need to have an amiri stamp on them.
Let's not forget municipal evlections do not mean a lot in a
centralised state like SA also elections withyout an independent
judiciary, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly are more likely
to cast legitimacy on a system which I consider oppressive and
absolutist. Let's not forget thhe trial show of the three reformers
who asked for constitutional monarchy. They insulted their royal
highness because they demanded political participation little they
know that even a constitutional monarchy is not acceptable to the five
states which rule SA today. I think I do not need to say more.
