The role of the Royal Engineer Regiment (Geographic) is to provide field
deployable geographic support to Defence. This support is provided by
the use of specially trained geographic staff embedded within major Army
Headquarters and by the deployment of specialist teams on operations.
Geographic support is provided in 7 key areas. All Royal Engineer
geographic specialists are trained at the Royal School of Military
Survey. Officers attend the Army Survey Course and, if successful, are
awarded a Master of Science degree in Defence Geographic Information.
