-full name and based in which country
-current occupation and how do you use GIS in your projects
-Future interests in GIS
-why interested in the region of the middle-east
Generally people here are quite professional and very friendly. It's easy to ask for help for something and get next day few URLs or offers to help. However people feel uncomfortable if you sent them any of the following:
- business press-releases targeted to general public
- material sharply unrelated to GIS (petitions, chain letters, etc that almost never happened here actually),
- AND GENERALLY, anything that is not written Only for the Cafe members
On the other hand, people here like very much to hear form you about:
- new products from your business to the GIS market that you have an insider knowledge of (but only in your own words written by you for the Cafe people only),
- Jobs/scholarships opportunities/openings,
- RFQs, RFIs, RFPs and bids,
- Call for Papers for conferences,
- Conferences,
- Training courses and seminars that could be interesting to them in GIS as well as any related subjects (project management, etc),
- GIS projects/achievments in your organization/company,
- your GIS projects experiences,
- comments from the life of a GISer in anyway you like that they can identify with,
- your opinion, questions and comments,
- and more of similar nature
All related to technology, projects and people who are with special interest in the region of the middle-east.
IMPORTANT NOTE: making business by networking with people here IS encouraged. Whether it's a new job or a new contract, it is accepted. But you cannot advertise yourself like you do to the outside world. Your 'personal' email words talking 'personally' to us is the only allowed way to do that.
This is a very unique online forum in the middle-east. Has a dviersity of scholars, professionals, and developers from all over the world and secotrs and that is still growing. Contribute to it by your comments and by letting people who can join it know about it.
