Get ready to see a very romantic places in the western desert.....

Our next safari is going to be a one day safari on Friday the 12th of April......

Where are we going to go? Is a very hard question to answer, cuz I don?t really know how to describe this wonderful place, but I`ll try.

The Place is called "Angels` Chairs" or "karasi el malayka"

It is on the eastern to northeastern side of Wadi El Rayan. The landscape is a large number of limestone Tips, which have in turn experienced Wind erosion just like the white desert, but on a smaller scale. What is so romantic is how these small numerous white tips (Angel chairs) are decorating the desert and extending to the lake shore and even a little into the lake decorating the water as well. some how there is a smooth line of green plants bordering the water and nesting a verity of birds (perfect for bird watching).

What?s more is that before we settle down in this gorgeous place, we will visit "Madeenet Mady" which is an ancient Egyptian Temple still under excavation (you know khaled`s stuff)

In Short:

Distention: Madeenet Mady & Angel`s Chairs

Date: Fri 12th of April, 2002

Duration: one day

Deadline: 31st of Mar, 2002

Hi All,
The moment I read about the new safari, I started searching
on the net for any information about the magnificent Straits of Tiran
and I found this :
http://www.sinaidivers.com/sd/english/tauchplaetze/tiran/index_tiran1.
htm
I hope you can make use of it and try to navigate the rest of the
site,it's great.
And about Friday, I wish to thank Mabrouk alot specially
about the team building games...it was really a great idea and I
suggest we do it in every event we have and not just socials, what
about that ?? And finally I wish to mention my pleasure to be with
you guys because with you I experienced the greatest Safari to the
dark side of myself :-)...I know it sounds like Star Wars but its
true :-)...see you in Tiran...Have a nice day.

We were walking along this 25 m wide valley in the south eastern part
of South Sinai.
We were walking on a beautiful paste of blue, gray, pink, earth and
green gravel mixed with white / grayish silt. I could see the folw of
water once running in the valley through the ripples on the surface
of this paste covering the middle part of the ground. The mountains
on my left and right side were solid, colorful, impressive, it was as
if each of them had its own character. The dykes in the mountains
were massive, irregularly high steps of earth red, balck and green ,
descending onto the ground of the valley and disspearing under the
sand, but then coming out again in an ascend on the other side of the
mountain..The plants around us were excotic of intriguing colors of
red, yellow, purple, brown, green, a different green, another
different green and yet another green..all in different shapes.

I had been walking for three days now with blood rushing through my
veins, my senses all too alert, that I tought to myslef I could not
take any more of this diversified, striking beauty.. it was all too
much for such a little time, but I just kept walking, when all of a
sudden the gray walls of the valley / canyon came closer, defined by
wide black dykes. I felt the air getting cooler, the mountains were
giving me shade from the mid day sun of Sinai...the earth under my
feet was more silt, sand and then eventually mud and grass. Then I
found a small pond in the white grayish rocks..grass shoots were
sprouting out of the water..I was overwhelmed by all of the scenery
when I realized that suddenly everybody was quite..SHSHSH they must
have found something...I walked ahead carefuly as the canyon bent to
the left and a most amazing sight was forcing itself onto my eyes and
soul.

I could see two mountains standing tall across from each other
starting from the fine gravel ground reaching for the sky, they were
like a picutre frame. It was like a bottle neck where before I saw
the cool ponds and beyong I saw the wide sunny valley again.

Looking at the tips of these two moutnains my gaze descended to the
bottom of the seen, where I saw this a 1 m long creature posing in
full grace embraced by the solid rocks in the cool shadow.

It had long slender legs, a light orange bill, head high, solid
posture, it radiated grace, strength and somekind of subtle
peacefullness..

The sight was totally overwhelming, unexpected beauty and life in the
far away desert, I was in awe.

I grabbed the binoculars and watched closer at the amazing creature
standing in this amazing place..I asked and they told me it was a
migrating heron, flying probably from the northern europe, or asia on
its way to Africa stopping at the waters of the pond for food and
shade.

Azza took the only picutres of this bird, I am not sure I have
succeeded in describing the scene, but once the picutre is out, I
think Azza will be happy to share it with us all.

I have talked too much for now...but my reseach on the Grey Heron has
begun, I put some picutres of gery herons on this link

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SaharaSafaris/files/Gray%20Heron%20Picutr…

...but what we saw was much more impressive..Azza don't keep us
waiting for too long my friend:)

I will post more info about the Grey Heron in another email..

One final word: this trip was a total bliss..will share with you more
later..

guyz, there's so much beauty in this world beyond what we can think
of so let us keep our eyes, minds and souls open!:))

This is a special .doc file I prepared about the place and its

Hi Nadia, Rasha and all new comers

As you may have noticed , a new comer in SS is a new comer only for a few minutes then you become one of the family.

Just to give you a quick background .

The messages titled "Next Safari" are the ones I send when I am announcing an upcoming big safari. Those are usually new places that we haven't been to and in some cases never heard of. The idea is to raise our awareness about a certain place and to educate those interested by creating what we call Data pool .Everyone researches and everyone shares their findings about the place with others - off coarse you can hear only -

I usually chose a new place every time , yet I do repeat the important destinations from time to time.

To join a "Next safari" you follow the these steps

1. Call me on the phone if you have any inquiries

2. Reserve by telling me how many places and the names of participants

3. Attend the Gather up scheduled before the safari, in which we get an over vewu of the trip and collect the money.

And that is it ,we take car of the rest. you don't have to have a 4X4 -we rent them if needed-

Before the safari I usually send a mail telling you what to bring along and the expected weather.

Easy???

Hi Maged and All,

I am interested in joining the upcoming Wadi 7etan safari. I have also gotten some non-SS members interested...so I need to ask a few questions to get back to them with answers:

* The safari is one day, so on the way, are there any stops?
* There is mention that the safari cost does not include a meal. Naturally, we will be bringing snacks, but at one point in the day, is there a stop where we can buy a hot meal?
* Will there be any lavatory/men's/ladies' rooms on the way, during the safari?
* What is the expected return time?
* Any expected weather forecast?
* I am sorry if I have missed the "detailed" safari programme, so would you please be kind enough to forward it to me?
* I have about 4 interested friends so far, is it possible that we arrange to be together in one car?

Thanks a million in advance...

Salam,

Sahar

not ask any thing about the place and discover it there. Trust me
this is a good one (Like all the Safaris I do ;-)...) just joking.

Although I've been talking about France and Luxembourg for the past
days but the next safari is not to Europe.

The Next one is to the wonderful heavenly oasis of Siwa. i love this
place just like how all those who have been there just fell in love
with it. There is some kind of magic about Siwa. The quite
breathtaking walks of Siwa, the amazing culture of the people. The
tremendous scenery. All i can say is that it is Magically Siwa.

We will use the 6th of Oct long weekend. 6th is a Wednesday.
We depart Tuesday the 5th afternoon and return on the 9th of Oct.
This time we will take you to some new places in Siwa just to give
those who have been there a chance to explore Siwa even more.

Book your calenders and i' ll be mailing the details quit soon.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Does it cost more for non-Egyptians?

2. What are "permissions"? and are they required for both Egyptians &
foreigners ?

Thanks

Dear all

As you probably now by now the Subject "Next Safari" is my Favorite
one.

Anyhow Our Next safari will be taking you on a one day safari as
requested by a lot of members off list.

And we will be taking you this time to a very nice cave in the
eastern desert "Wadi Sanour Cave"

The Cave is midway into Wadi Sanour which extends west to east in
the eastern desert, just east of Bani Swief. The area is full of
mining activities due to the fact that it is rich in Alabaster, and
the Egyptian alabaster is known world wide for its outstanding
quality and very attractive semitransparent color. The cave has a
very large number of Stalactites and stalagmites of alabaster. This
is what gives it a great deal of importance. I'll be posting more
information about Wadi Sanour Cave and about the alabaster
formations soon.

The cave visit will be accompanied by the rangers of Wadi Sanour
protectorate.
After we visit the cave we will be having a tour around Bani Swief
as well as lunch there.

Details:

Date: Friday 18 Feb. 2005
Duration: One day Safari
Destination: Wadi Sanour Cave & Bani Swief.
Price: LE 140 per person for Egyptians. LE 170 per person for Non
Egyptians.
Deadline for reservation: Sunday 13 Feb.
Reservation: By phone only
Contact: Maged Toson (010 5471174)
Deadline for cancellation: Monday 14 Feb (12 pm), cancellation after
this date will be subject to cancellation fee.

Please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone if you have any
inquires. I'll be glad to answer your question no mater how many
they are.

Note: Children above 5 Years are welcomed. And off course like all
our events in SS, Friends and relatives of members are most welcomed
to join.

There will be two meals included per day. All you need to do is call to register your names, Then I'll be announcing a date and time for every body to meet where I'll be telling you more information about the trip and the preparation needed from your side to make the best of the trip and enjoy it to the max. Off course  new comers  are most encouraged to join. The goal of our "Next Safari" trips is to raise awayness about different places in Egypt and get to know more about those wonderful and amazing places in a fun and enjoyable way. I'll be also collecting the money on that date.

Dear All
The Summer is heating up and looks like we need the Next Safari to
be in a nice cool place. I also feel that we need to visit a nice
new place. So this time I thought of taking you guys to Zaraniq
protectorate. Both cool and new........as for the nice part, I'll
leave this for you guys to decide.

Zaraniq is a protectorate in North Sinai, about 30 Km west of Arish.
It is a very important place for Bird Lovers due to the fact that a
very large number of immigrating birds visit the area in their first
stop in Egypt. Zaraniq is also considered a historical attraction as
two important historical sites have been discovered there. I'll be
posting more information about Zaraniq quit soon. But for now let
plan a Safari to visit this unique protectorate and get a chance of
Awareness about the area.

Details
=====

Duration: 2 days , 1 night ( weekend )
Date: Friday to Saturday - 2 & 3 September 2005
Accommodation: in 5 star hotel in Al Arish ( Half board basis)
Transportation: By bus
Contact: Maged Toson ( beta3 el Next Safari )

Cancellation: Must be at least five days before departure
