The Bent Pyramid

Hi everybody:
All of us knows that our pharonic civilization is full of mysterious things
that have never been solved til now, one of these is the mystery of the Bent
Pyramid in Dahshur.
This pyramids which were built by Snofru (or Snefro) inwhich his monuments
constitute an evolutionary link between the stepped pyramids of the previous
dynasty at north Saqqara and the great pyramids of Guiza starting with his
son Cheops (khafra3).
What makes Snofro's Bent pyramid (his final resting place) different from
all other pyramids is it's change of angle towards the top; It rises more
steeply (54.3') than his Red Pyramid (called so because of colour of the
limestone it was built from) or even Guiza Pyramids angle (43.5'), But at
approximetly three qurters of it's hight it abruptly taper at a gentler
slope.
The reason for changing the slope is not yet Known exactly, Some says that
this was a change of plan prompted by fears for it's stability, Others says
that Snofru was about to die and he wanted to finish building it in shorter
time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But if you visited this site
http://www.pyramidmatrix.com/bent_pyramid.htm
You will find that they are bringing a theory proving that the designs on
paper for this pyramid was just like it was constructed.
The bbent pyramid escaped the fate of removing it's limestone casing because
of it's narrower angle made it difficult to remove the casing except the
lower corners, which through it you can see not only how closely the blocks
were slotted together, But on the ground of the northwes corner of the
pyramid pits & grooves have been craved on the bed rock indicating that
construction began with marking out the base on bedrock.
I guess Mabrouk told us when we were in Dahshur something about the
positioning of the Bent Pyramid but I can't recall it now, maybe he could
tell us about it.

Waleed El-Guindy

Waleed,

What you mentioned is interesting. I took my family
there last week and there was nobody but us, trees and
lush lake vegetation, large birds and the reflection
of the three mysterious pyramids of dahshour on the
lake.

I love this lake specially that it's a no-go zone
because of military and it seems truly extremely
natural. Natural in the sense that they say the entire
Nile valley seemed to look something similar to that
in prehistoric times before landfilling and land
reclaimation starts by the great ancient kings.

As for the pyramids, did you know guys (if I am not
mistaken) that Snefru's architects are the ones who
established the art of pyramids building? After the
first glorious but naive attempt of Zoser's Im7otep to
have a stepped pyramid in saqqara, those architect
started experimenting to reach amazing hights with
different design (reclining walls). The Dahshour
pyramids are too huge to be true matching those of
giza but older!!!

For the three pyramids thought to be belonging to
Snefru the bent one remains a riddle. You waleed
talked about it, but there was yet another one i read
before. The two slopes are representatives/symbols of
two composite pyramids that represented upper and
lower Egypt. This symbol of duality could very true in
my very humble opinion. The duality and persistent
symbolism of the United States of Egypt has gone too
far at times that some pharaos had to build "two"
tombs to show their fairness to both states of Egypt!
So it doesn't surprise me to build a 'dual' pyramid
like that of Dahshour.

The quest of the pyramids riddles are never ending and
the landscape of the pyramids plateau offers an
amazingly inspiring and awesome travel back in time
that touches you very deeply if you're ready for it.

No wonder that Martin is telling me about his BBC
friend who's here for YET ANOTHER documentary about
the pyramids! Believe me even discovery channel cannot
tell you the whole story like you go there and watch
it yourself IN SITE! :)

Wish you all the best this Fri.

Be well. Catch you later... after Sinai. :)

Salaam,
Mohamed Mabrouk

I might sound like a crazy dreamer but.. only crazy dreamers can come up with ideas like the Egyptian pyramids!
