Self Introduction - New Member :)

So this is a quick intro about me...
My name is Sawsan Gad. I am Egyptian but now residing in California to
work on my master's program of Demographic and Social Analysis at UCI
(University of California, Irvine); which makes me currently, ahem,
jobless. :)
My experience with GIS is more of data manipulation than a developer's
experience...

The reason why I am interested in Middle East GIS is because when I am
finished with my program, I really want to start using my GIS skills
back home. I never heard of it in Egypt and now -having heard and learnt
using it, I have no idea about the whereabouts and howabouts of
GISers... and I want to be involved :)

Which brings the question, how big is the field in the Middle East? and
is it more of a playground for urban planners and geologists; or is
there anything for statisticians and and demographers?

(I was not able to attach my CV. But basically: I am 23. I used to be a
Teaching Assistant at the German University in Cairo before I came to
the US last August. I assisted the teaching of Operations Management,
Inferential Statistics and Game Theory)

Thanks everyone (for taking the time!!) :)
