Thanks Hatoon,
I'm close to one year old in British Gas. I really
work my head off. As you know I used to work in the
government and you might have heard that just recently
there was a major cabinet reshuffle where they have
positioned young (30s early 40s) technocrats and
ex-private sector to become ministers. I don't know
whether to be optimistic about this change or not..
the economy hasnt been doing well at all and its done
badly that i believe it couldn't have gone worse..

Realizing that the cabinet change did not emanate from
the president but rather his son... so people are
concerned about how change has come along. So far the
"son" is sometimes in the limelight sometimes not..
its fishy and vague!!.

I'm really tempted to go back to working in the
government as i used to feel I was closer to making a
differnce,, though it was a great struggle and many
times gov. officials used to waste time, energy and
resources in really mundane issues (rediculous you
wouldn't believe it).. anyway still watching from a
distance.

As for desert Safari!! Mohamed Mabrouk how can I join?
I want to enjoy the exotic things in Egypt. There is
so much beauty that locals don't experience...its
mostly advertised to the 'khawagas'.

Thanks,
Salam for now
I think pictures would be a great idea, afterall, the
Manchester people have only seen little of me (during
my one year stay)esp. in a city where students come
and go!!

Dear Zaid,

It is good to hear from you. Hope things are going
well with you at the university in Malaysia. How about
your book? is it well distributed. You need to tell
the group about it in case any of them is interested.

It seems that after four or five years of graduation
we might even forget some names of our colleauges. It
seems that we should think of adding a photo to each
name, what do you think? :)

Sundus, Azz,

It was a pleasure hearing from you both. Good luck
Azza with your new job. you may need to have a look at
some of our old correspondance that was made by mhmd
mabrouk on his saharasafaris group. you may be
interested in it since you are based in Cairo.

Sundus, we need to know more about what you do at the
moment.

Najla,

I'm glad you attended the Gulf women conf in London.
Foziyah al Bakr is a good friend. I'm glad she had a
good presentation.

I hope it was a representable occasion for our image
and mind.

Salam,

Hatoon

Assalamualaykum

It's a great idea to know who is on the membership
list. Of course most of us still remember each other
but its difficult to identify merely through e mail
addresses. Some of us are not using their actual name,
like me....

All good wishes to all friends and colleagues
