INTERN: ASIA DEPARTMENT, SOUTH ASIA
Summary
NDI is seeking an undergraduate or first year graduate student to work in
Washington, D.C., as an intern on the Institutes South Asia Programs,
including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The intern will be
responsible for conducting research on country specific programs, attending
meetings and seminars on South Asian affairs, and providing administrative
support on country projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist the Asia team in supporting democracy development programs=
in South Asia.
Research and gather materials for country specific programs.
Backstop the activities of assigned field offices.
Collect and distribute to the Asia team foreign and domestic
newspapers, magazines, or journal clippings pertaining to South Asia.
Attend meetings and seminars on South Asian affairs and prepare
oral and written presentations to Asia team members.
Assist in the preparation and drafting of periodical reports.
Provide administrative support to assigned country projects,
including filing, faxing, copying and mailings.
Conduct special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge of and interest in South Asia required.
Well-organized and skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple
tasks.
Excellent writing skills.
Flexible, diligent and team-oriented.
Proficient in any South Asian language (preferred but not=
required).
South Asia experience and/or language preferred.
Comments
This position pays $6.15 per hour. The internship will last a minimum of
three months.
